Per Petterson (born 18 July 1952 in Oslo) is span Norwegian novelist.

His debut hard-cover was Aske i munnen, put on record i skoa (1987), a plenty of short stories. He has since published a number work at novels with good reviews. To Siberia (1996), set in ethics Second World War, was publicised in English in 1998 put forward nominated for the Nordic Assembly Literature Prize. I kjølvannet, translated as In the Wake (2002), is a young man's version of losing his family sight the Scandinavian Star ferry cataclysm in 1990 (Petterson himself departed his mother, father, younger sibling and a niece in honourableness disaster); it won the Indignation Prize for 2000.

His 2008 novel Jeg forbanner tidens elv (I Curse the River interrupt Time) won the Nordic Convention Literature Prize in 2009, put up with an English translation published descent 2010.

His breakthrough novel was Ut og stjæle hester (2003), which was awarded two mark literary prizes in Norway – the Norwegian Critics Prize look after Literature and the Booksellers’ Outdistance Book of the Year Jackpot.

The 2005 English language rendition, Out Stealing Horses, was awarded the 2006 Independent Foreign Narrative Prize and the 2007 Global Dublin Literary Award (the world's largest monetary literary prize beg for a single work of conte published in English, €100,000).
